Shortly after 10 pm on on 3/9/2007 the Lynn Fire Department recieved numerous calls for a house fire on Eutaw ave. Engines 10,5,1, Tower Ladder 4, C4 and H1 responded. Upon arrival Engine 5 encountered heavy fire from a 2 1/2 story multi family home. Engine 5 immediately declared a working fire bringing Ladder 1 and Medic 1 to the fire. Heavy fire involved the 2nd and 3rd floors and threatened similar exposures on the bravo and delta sides. Moments later the district chief struck a 2nd alarm bringing Engines 3,7 and 9 to the fire. Radiant heat began melting the siding of the home on the delta side, and began buring through the roof as crews made a very aggresive interior attack. Ladder 1 also threw it's stick and worked the bravo side of the building. Shortly before 10:30 pm the district chief struck a 3rd alarm bring mutual aid companies to the fire along with the last piece of Lynn apparatus. Salem Engine 4, Saugus Engine 1, Swampscott Engine 21 and Lynn Ladder 2 responded to the fire for the 3rd alarm. Crews fought long and hard inside, eventually knocking down the heavy fire and protecting the exposures from damage (other than minor radiant heat damage). The fire was declared under control around 11:30 pm crews remained on scene much of the night doing extensive overhaul. Lynn Police, Rehab 5 and Action Ambulance also responded to the fire. A Marblehead engine and Wakefield engine covered the Fayette st. station, along with a Swampscott ladder from it's own quarters. An engine and ladder from Revere covered the Western ave. station along with and engine from Lynnfield, and a Peabody engine covered the Broadway station. The cause of the fire was determined to be a shorted out hair dryer left on a bed.
