Lynn - 2nd Alarm, Norton Street 11/20/07

Around 12:00 pm Lynn fire crews responded to a reported building fire in a 2 1/2 story wood frame multi family dwelling on Norton Street not far from the General Electric River Works Plant. Upon arrival Firefighters found the structure well involved, and found that one of the residents had helped evacuate the other occupants of the house prior to their arrival. A working fire was declared and Tower Ladder 4 along with Medic 1 were summoned to the fire. Crews fought heavy fire on floors 1 and 2, which had extended into the attic.

Not long after a working fire was declared, a 2nd alarm was struck brining 3 additional Lynn Engines to the fire. The decision was made to go into defensive operations, and Tower Ladder 4 put it's master stream into operation. The Tower along with handlines worked for an hour or so before the fire was declared under control. Media reports indicate at least one firefighter sustained minor injuries and was treated and released. Numerous residents were displaced and were being taken care of by the Red Cross.

A Firefighter uses a pike pole to strip the siding off of the second floor wall to better access the rest of the fire.

At this point the bulk of fire has been knocked down as the Tower strips siding off of the side of the house with it's master stream.
