At appoximately 3:20 p.m. Peabody fire crews responded to a reported house fire on Harris st. which was within sight of the Tremont st. firehouse, home of Engine 4. Crews were confronted with heavy fire from the rear and through the roof of a 30 x 40, 2 1/2 story woodframe house upon arrival. An aggressive attack was launched, both interior and exterior. A 2nd alarm was sounded, and shortly thereafter the evacuation tone was sounded and all crews were removed from the building. An exterior attack was put into place with at least 6 handlines and Peabody Ladder 1's ladder pipe. The fire was declared knocked down around 4 p.m. with extensive overhaul needed. Peabody Engines 1,3,4,5 and 7, along with Ladder 1, Car 2 and Fire investigation units responded. C1 responded later as well. Lynn Tower Ladder 4 and Salem Engine 2 responded to the fire. Lynn Engine 7, covered the South Peabody Station on Lynn st. Lynnfield Engine 3 covered the West Peabody Station and Beverly Engine 1, along with Danvers Engine 3's 75 ft. Quint covered Headquarters. Rehab 5, along with numerous Peabody Police units responded as well.
