At around 3 p.m. Sunday afternoon Salem firefighters and Police responded to a reported house fire on Bridge street. Upon arrival crews were faced with people trapped and heavy fire from the rear of the house. One person had to be rescued from the 3rd floor ledge, and two others were transported to Salem Hospita. A 2nd alarm brought remaining Salem apparatus as well as mutual aid companies, crews knocked down the blaze and were faced with extensive overhaul due to the size of the 6 family home. It is reported as many as 12 people have been displaced. Salem Engines 1,2,4,5 and Ladder 1 responded along with the Deputy Chief, Chief and FID. Beverly Engine 1, Peabody Engine 4 and Lynn Tower Ladder 4 responded for the 2nd alarm. The Lynn Tower was later diverted to headquarters where it covered the city with a Lynn engine and Marblehead engine. Rehab 5 was also present at the scene.
